The One Thing I Will Do In 2012 Come Hell or High Water!...

Jan 3, 2012 by

We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day. ~  Edith Lovejoy Pierce This quote from Edith Lovejoy Pierce seems particularly relevant for an online community, since of course, each new post begins with a blank page. On All The Single Girlfriends our posts wrap around the stories of our life experiences. Often they reflect our dreams, joys, hopes and sometimes our sadnesses. Our Gf authors are amazing and I wondered how they were going to fill the blank pages of their 2012 books .. what did they want to do in 2012 .. come hell or high water!   Debra Pearlman ~ Resolutions … been there, broke that.  I’d rather say that I’d focus...

Thanksgiving Traditions Differ

Nov 23, 2011 by

Thanksgiving means different things to each of us. For some girlfriends it’s a special dish that brings back childhood memories. For others it’s the people sitting around the table. Too often it is expected, from our families to our work colleagues to our friends, that we, as women, will put ourselves second. Funny thing is even our girlfriends often assume that as well. On March 8th, as we celebrate the women of the world, our Gf author, Sunny Cervantes, reminds us that we should celebrate ourselves as well. As Sunny put it, “Since it’s a day to honor women, why can’t we say thank you to ourselves?” Why not?! Some of our Girlfriends share a few ideas on what they will thank themselves for and how they will make themselves feel extra special on International Women’s Day .. and through out the year. For having the determination...

Daddy’s On Facebook

Feb 12, 2011 by

My father turned 82 in January. He doesn’t really need anything, but I wanted to get his some kind of gift. I opted to give him his own Facebook page. Dad doesn’t use a computer, so I used my own PC to create him an account. First I created the Facebook account. Then I invited my siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins to “friend” Dad. I also invited a few of Dad’s friends and former neighbors. Not many of his old friends are still living. Fortunately, he still stays in touch with his high school girlfriend and she happened to have a Facebook account. I had to call her on the phone to get her Facebook name because she goes by the name her grandchildren call her. Gramma Mimi is Dad’s oldest Facebook Friend, but...
