Maggie Buerger - All The Single Girlfriends

Maggie Buerger

My favorite saying: Be yourself; everyone else is already taken. ~ Oscar Wilde
I am a beautiful, smart, passionate, fun-loving, expressive, kind, and soulful lady who is approaching her 56th birthday as I write this bio. Who am I? How did I get here? Where am I going?

For starters, I was born in the South—in Marietta, Georgia to be exact. After completing my first year of college while still in high school, I “went away to college.” All the way to Athens, Georgia, where I studied journalism and rooted for the Bulldogs. I was ambitious, running my own small advertising agency, working at the university PR office, and contributing articles to both the student newspaper and the local daily.

My career was my life for the better part of my 20’s and 30’s. After selling magazine advertising for 13 years, I started a PR agency that took off like a house on fire. I wouldn’t say I had vision; I just followed the opportunities as they were presented to me. The dotcom bust slowed me down in 2000, and by 9/11 I was a bit lost. Along with many other people, I realized that good things don’t always keep happening to good people who work hard. I’ve had to change my expectations.

Well, a bit. I still believe I can do anything I set out to accomplish. I just have to figure out what that is. Meanwhile, I am working on my relationships. I’ve been married twice. Maybe it’s time to start dating again. Do people still do that?

One thing that is really important to me is rekindling old friendships like I’ve done on Facebook and building new ones with All the Single Girlfriends 40+. I confess that I am a bit intimidated by the beauty, the smarts and the ideas shared by the other writers here. So, be patient with me. My blog post on this site is my first. I’m sure I’ll get better.

I hope you will enjoy my posts.

Daddy’s On Facebook

My father turned 82 in January. He doesn’t really need anything, but I wanted to get his some kind of gift. I opted to give him his own Facebook page. Dad doesn’t use a computer, so I used my own PC to create him an account. First I created the Facebook account. Then I invited […]
